University maintains a strong rapport with the development Departments of the State. The co-operation between the University and these departments spans the areas of identification of problems, funding to find the solutions, support for field work and lastly to reach the needy with the solutions. A strong and similar association exists between the various research agencies. University thus has collaborative research in association with almost all the central institutes allied to agriculture, fisheries, veterinary sciences, sericulture, forestry and the related fields. Similar collaborative work exists between the State research Institutes and the University.
Bangalore has the distinction of being the host for many leading centrally funded research institutes in the country, such as Indian Institute of Science, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, National Centre for Biological Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, National Institute for Advancement of Science etc. Scientists of the University have the distinction of not only associating themselves with these institutes for collaborative research ventures, but also many are Honorary Fellows of these Institutes, which speaks volumes of quality of science being practiced at the University.
The multi dimensionality of these collaborative ventures have spread their net across even Non Governmental Organizations such as Monsanto, Bio-control Research Laboratories, Rallis (India), etc. further exemplifying the broader outlook of the University scientists.
An ever pervading urge for higher standards in research, has necessitated the need to reach out for International collaborative ventures also. These include association with institutes such as, Asian Vegetable Research and Development Center; Taiwan; Natural Resources Institute, UK; Department for International Development (DFID), UK; International Foundation for Science, Sweden; International Centre for Living Aquatic Research Management, Manila, Philippines; International Plant Genetic Resources Institute- APO, Malaysia; Stanley Smith Horticultural Trust, UK; Department for International Development, University of Wales, UK; Rockefeller Foundation, USA; Ford Foundation, USA; WinRock International, USA; IRRI, Philippines; Purdue University, USA; University of Florida, UAS; Kirk House Trust, UK; The University of Manitoba; Canada; IOWA State University, USA; University of Bremen, Germany, etc.,
