The University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore has contributed immensely to the
Agricultural Development of Karnataka through Agricultural Education, Research and Extension.
This University is renowned for its innovative technologies and contributions,
in recognition of which the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi conferred
the coveted Sardar Patel Award for being the most outstanding Agricultural University in
the Country for the year 2001. The students and the staff distinguished themselves by
enabling the University secure the first rank in the All India Junior Research Fellowship
Examination 2003-04. The students of this prestigious University have won laurels in sports & games,
besides the Alumni occupy very important positions in National and International Institutions and
have contributed immensely to the Agricultural Development of the Nation. |

The University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore has a very large student population of more than 2500
Undergraduate and more than 1000 Potgraduate students in nine colleges. The Directorate of Student
Welfare with the Director of Student Welfare assisted by the Deputy Director of Student Welfare and
a dedicated team of Assistant Directors of Student Welfare and faculty and staff of the Department
of Physical Education in the respective Colleges assisted by the Student Counselors, Wardens and other
faculty and staff of the University have been responsible for the overall personalit development of the
students. At the University of Agricultural Sciences, bangalore, the students are not only given excellent
academic inputs, but also enjoy very good sports and cultural infrastructure helping them develop their overall personality. |

The Directorate of Student Welfare through its multi faceted activities has helped the students scale
new heights in their careers. Our students have been excelling, in their Agricultural career and in many
other competitive examinations at National and State level. The recent achievements of UAS (B) in bagging
the prestigious Sardar Patel Award in 2001-02 and securing the First place in Junior Research Fellowship Examination
bears testimony to the dedication of the faculty, staff and above all the students of the University. |

The importance of Sports, Games, Cultural and other extra curricular activities in moldings the students
into responsible citizens and building their confidence is very well recognised at UAS (B) and physical
education has been made a compulsory subject during the first year of all Undergraduate programmes.
The students are taught physical exercises, yoga and different sports and games depending on their aptitude.
There are very well laid out play grounds and gymnastic hall at all colleges campuses and are being upgraded
regularly. |

Inter collegiate Volleyball, Basketball, Shuttle, Chess, Ball Badminton, Lawn Tennis and Athletic meets
are conducted each year in turns in different constituent colleges to create additional infrastructure in
the campuses and expose and motivate boys and girls of different campuses to take active part in these
Sports and Games. |

All college campuses have excellent hostel facilities for both boys and girls, equipped with modern
and hygienic kitchen facilities. Facilities include reading rooms, television facilities and indoor
games facilities in most of the hostels. The Directorate of Student Welfare with the assistance of the
Wardens are always on hand to attend to the needs of the students such as health care, welfare and to make
their stay comfortable. The Directorate spares no effort in making the time spent in the campus a memorable one. |

The Directorate is not only ensuring the comfortable stay by molding the overall personality of the students
but also facilities secure better career opportunities. REgular coaching classes are organised for competitive
exams like ARS, JRF, NET, Banking examinations and other civil services examinations, of UPSC and KPSC.
Coaching classes are also conducted to harness and sharpen the skills of debating essay writing, quiz competitions and other fine arts.
The students effort are reflected very well in many competitive examinations both at national and the state levels. |

The University organise an interface between industry, faculty and students every year to create awareness
regarding job opportunities and there after facilitate planning of their careers |

The Directorate arranges campus interviews through initiative both from the Directorate and the industry.
The students are counseled on the job requirements and trained for the interview with the help of the
faculty and other invited experts. |

The Directorate in a nutshell is leaving no stone unturned to extend all possible help and support
to the students of the University for a comfortable and academically productive stay with excellent
opportunities for exhibiting their sports and cultural talents and also a secure future. |
