  Academic Programmes Shimoga  
  Under Graduate - B.Sc.(Agri.) Course:

The 4 year (8 Semester) UG programme consists of Crop production courses (38%), Plant Sciences (12%), Plant Protection (11%), Agril. Extension & Economics (11%), Supporting courses (16%) and RWEP (12%) The college has an intake capacity of 50 students per year and till now 648 students have graduated from this institute, with excellence.
  Post Graduate - M.Sc.(Agri) Course:

The (4 Semester) M.Sc.(Agri) in line departments of Soil Science & Agril. Chemistry and Agril. Entomology was started with four students in each course, totally 8 students per year. Till now 14 students have post graduated from this institute , with excellence.
  Diploma Courses:

Diploma in Agriculture Extension Services for input dealers (DAESI) one year (two semesters) for Agricultural dealers.
  Research/Ph.D :

The following research projects funded by outside agencies were successfully completed
  • Exploitation of Nomuraea rileyi, Verticillium (iecani) and Metarhizium anisopliae for the management of inflorescence pests of areca.
    Duration: Three years (2001-02 to 2004-05)
    Principal Investigator : Dr. M. Manjunath , Professor of Agricultural Entomology
  • Effect of Rice Hull Ash (RHA) on Phosphorus Utilization in Paddy Soils.Duration : Three years (2000-01 to 2003-04)
  • Principal Investigator : Dr.N. B. Prakash & Dr .N. Vasuki.

The following Research Projects are under progress.  
  • Research on Arecanut Production technology under different agro-climatic situations through on station and on farm trials.
    Year of Start : 2001-02 (Long term project)
    Principal Investigator: Dr.M.Mahabaleshwara Hegde, Professor of Horticulture.
  Trainings:

Several Trainings were conducted on Arecanut pests and diseases in Station and at Farmer’s fields to create awareness of farmers to control pests which are endemic in nature.
