Realizing the importance of formal education of forestry in India, The National Forest Policy act 1988 has extended the support for starting forestry education in the State Agricultural Universities of India. Accordingly, The University of Agricultural Science, Bangalore, has started the Under Graduate programme in Forestry in the year 1985 and subsequently the post Graduate programme in the year 2001 – 02. The college of forestry is situated at Ponnampet, in the midst of rich forest wealth with in the Western Ghats. The location is ideal for studying a vast range of diversified forestry aspects and provide more comprehensive knowledge of forestry. This college is established under University of Agricultural Science, Bangalore, with a mission of imparting knowledge on forestry and to conserve, renew and utilize our natural resources in a sustainable manner. This college is thriving to impart excellence in Education, research and extension in the field of forestry for the welfare of the society.
