The College of Sericulture under University of Agricultural Sciences,
Bangalore was started during 1995. It is located at Chintamani which is 75 km
away from Bangalore. The college is situated at 7th km on Chintamani - Kolar Road.
It is only one education centre in Asia offering B.Sc. (Sericulture) degree programme of 4 years.
This college has been adjudged as the best out Station College by Indian Council of
Agricultural Research, New Delhi during the year 2003.
This campus is spread over 180 acres of land.
The college is offering both B.Sc. (Seri.) and B.Sc. (Agri.)
degree programmes. Besides this, Agricultural Research Station is
conducting research on dry land agriculture, horticulture and
other crop research programme. For the transfer of technology to
the farmers Krishi Vigynan Kendra and Community Based Tank Management
Project Consultancy Services are also functioning efficiently.
So far 242 students have obtained B.Sc. (Sericulture) degree from this
college out of which 214 are employed in government and other prestige institutes.
The college has well equipped lecture halls, laboratories, computer facilities,
library, sports facilities, hostels for both boys and girls besides hands on
training units for the specialization for graduation students.
Hostels
Separate Hostels are available for Boys and Girls with
capacity for 96 and 27 boarders, respectively.
Eligibility Eligibility for admission to the B.Sc.(Seri.) and B.Sc. (Agri.) Degree Programme is 10+2 with PCMB as optionals.
