The University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore was established in 1963 in Karnataka. It has seven campuses, functioning in Southern Part of the state with the fundamental mission to serve society as a center of higher learning, providing long-term socio economic benefits by discovering and advancing new knowledge in agriculture and to function as a repository of organized knowledge. With its seven colleges and 21 research stations, in eight agro-climatic zones, the UASB imparts education in agriculture and allied fields. |

We educate students from undergraduate to the most advanced graduate level. At the undergraduate level we transmit knowledge and skills to students, at the graduate level, students learn the processes of developing and testing new hypotheses and fresh interpretations of knowledge. By educating students for their professional careers, grounded in understanding of relevant sciences, literature and research methods, we provide opportunities for students the tools to continue intellectual development over a lifetime and to contribute to the needs of a changing society. Students graduating from the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore will have great ideas for addressing some of the biggest challenges of the 21st century. This will help them mobilize additional financial and in-kind resources to support their ideas, and recruit additional committed students. |

The UASB disseminates research results and translates scientific discoveries into practical knowledge and technological innovations that benefit Karnataka state and the nation. With our academic programs, we help create an educated and skilled workforce, which makes the Karnataka agricultural economy competitive and enhances the quality of lives of farmers. With some of the world's finest agricultural scientists and researchers and brightest students in agriculture, horticulture, forestry, sericulture, agricultural engineering, agricultural biotechnology, food science and nutrition and agricultural marketing and cooperation, UASB provides an unique environment in which leading scholars and promising students strive together to expand fundamental knowledge of human nature, society, and the natural world. |

We offer Masters program in 24 disciplines and doctoral programs in 14 disciplines. All our Departments have been funded by the DST-FIST program with the State of Art research facilities. We have created excellent learning opportunities for our students with well-equipped laboratories, Library, Internet, Hostels, Health and Sports facilities besides Group Insurance Scheme for our students.
In recognition of the overall contributions of UASB, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research New Delhi awarded the Sardar Patel Outstanding ICAR Institution award – 2001. The Accreditation Board of the ICAR has accredited the UASB in 2004.

The UASB has attained the status of premier institution in teaching and research in agricultural and allied sciences, generating cutting edge technologies in crop improvement addressing the challenges of Indian agriculture. We have accorded equal emphasis to fundamental and applied sciences leading to technological innovations useful in agriculture. Our University is a model for other Agricultural Universities to emulate in the nation. |

Besides releasing crop varieties / technologies suitable for different agro-climatic zones, we have developed inter alia efficient agricultural machinery and equipment, watershed development technologies, aerobic rice cultivation, integrated farming systems, integrated pest and disease management, integrated nutrition management, agro-forestry systems. In recognition of our outstanding contribution to watershed development research, the UASB received the National Productivity Council Award. This heralded the creation of the nation’s first Watershed Development Department by the Government of Karnataka. The UASB has also extensively contributed to research in millets, increased Ragi production and processing, research on biotechnology and transgenics for crop improvement and organic farming, biofuels, biopesticides, biocontrol measures which are cost effective. |

Our extension efforts cater to training farmers, farmwomen, farm youth and extension personnel of Development Departments including unemployed agricultural graduates for self employment. We offer Diploma in Bakery Products Technology for rural women and in organic farming through distance education. Our Kissan Call center responds to farmers’ queries regularly with the help of subject matter specialists. |
