College of Agricultural Engineering

The Department of Agricultural Engineering under the College of Agriculture was started in the year 1965 to teach Agricultural Engineering courses to B.Sc. (Agri.) degree programme and Master degree programme M.Sc. (Agri. Engg.) in Soil and Water Conservation Engineering and M.Sc.(Agri. Engg.) in Post-Harvest Processing and Food Engineering. Looking into the demand for more Agricultural Engineering professionals in the field of Farm Power and Machinery, Soil and Water Engineering, Processing and Food Engineering and Utilization of Renewable Energy in Agriculture, University started four years Bachelor of Technology in Agricultural Engineering degree programme in the academic year 1996-97 followed by renaming the existing nomenclature for the Master’s degree programme into M. Tech. (Agril. Engg.) in Soil and Water Engineering and M. Tech. (Agril. Engg.) in Processing and Food Engineering. Further, as per the recommendations of the ICAR the Department of Agricultural Engineering was upgraded to College of Agricultural Engineering in the academic year 2018-19.
The College of Agricultural Engineering is offering 4 year B.Tech. (Agricultural Engineering) under graduate degree programme and Post graduate degree programme in two discipline M. Tech. (Agricultural Engineering) in Soil and Water Engineering and M. Tech. (Agricultural Engineering )in Processing and Food Engineering.
At present the College of Agricultural Engineering has the following departments
  1. Department of Soil and Water Engineering
  2. Department of Processing and Food Engineering
  3. Department of Farm Machinery and Power Engineering
The under graduate degree programme covers total of 183 credit hours for B.Tech. (Agril. Engg.) degree including Basic Engineering and Applied Science courses and Inpalnt Training, Internship, Experiential Training and Project Planning and Report Writing under student READY Programme. The above three departments are also offering the courses to B.Sc. (Hons.)Agri. and B.Sc. (Ag. MaCo.) degree programmes.
