AICRP Scheme: AICRP on SORGHUM

Location : HARDANAHALLI FARM, CHAMARAJANAGARA

Year of Start:2014-15

Mandate:

• Development of varieties / hybrid suitable for early kharif (grain and fodder type).
• Development of dual purpose genotypes/ Varieties/ Hybrids.
• Development of drought tolerant genotypes / Varieties/ Hybrids.
• Monitoring multi location testing of coordinated trials
• To participate in Front –Line Demonstrations (FLDs) and Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) Programmes.
• Develop and popularise integrated crop production technologies and plant protection practices to major insects and diseases.

Research Programmes:

• Collection of local germplasms.
• Development of new fodder sorghum varieties.
• Development of varieties/hybrid suitable for early kharif and rabi.
• Identification of varieties/hybrid suitable for early kharif.
• Evaluation of different legumes for intercropping in sorghum
• Nutrient management in Fodder sorghum.

Research Accomplishments :

• CNFS-1 Fodder sorghum is in farm trial stage
• Identified germplasm suitable for early kharif
• Identified Restorers lines for hybrid development
• Evaluations of new hybrids in MLT

Facilities Available:

• Good fertile land with chain link fencing and good irrigation facilities.
• Farm pond facility

Other Activities:
