Dr. Sudha Yadav is a distinguished academician, public servant and former Member of Parliament, whose life reflects courage, perseverance, integrity and an unwavering commitment to the nation. A doctorate holder in Chemistry from IIT Roorkee, she brings academic distinction and extensive public experience to her Constitutional responsibilities.

Born on 16^th October 1965 in Motla Kalan village, District Rewari, Haryana. She rose from an academic background to national public life through determination, resilience and a deep sense of duty.

Her journey was profoundly shaped by the supreme sacrifice of her husband, Shri Sukhbir Singh Yadav, Deputy Commandant in the Border Security Force, the first martyr of Kargil War, 1999. Transforming personal adversity into a commitment to public service, she dedicated herself to serving the nation and its people.

Dr. Sudha Yadav completed her primary education at Saraswati Shishu Mandir, BHEL, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh and further schooling at Vidya Mandir, BHEL, Haridwar. She holds an M.Sc. in Chemistry and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from IIT, Roorkee. She is a recipient of the President’s Guide Award and represented India at the Girls Guide Asia Pacific Jamboree, Malaysia.

Dr. Sudha Yadav was elected to the 13^th Lok Sabha in 1999 from Mahendragarh, Haryana and served as a Member of Parliament till 2004. She served on several key Committees i.e., Standing Committee on Defence, the Committee on the Empowerment of Women, Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Communications, Committee of Parliament on Official Language and also served on a notable Joint Parliamentary Committee on Pesticide Residues and Safety Standards for Soft Drinks, Fruit Juices and other Beverages. She focused on rural development, drinking water, girls education, sanitation, healthcare, employment and infrastructure.

She subsequently held important organisational responsibilities in the Bharatiya Janata Party, including State Secretary, Haryana (2004-05), State Spokesperson, Haryana (2005-06), Prashikshan Pramukh, Haryana (2009-12), Member, National Executive (2009-13). She was National Secretary, BJP during year 2006-2009, 2013-2021 and National In-Charge of its OBC Morcha in 2015-2019. She served as a Member of the National Commission for Backward Classes from 2019-2022.

In August, 2022, she was appointed to the BJP Parliamentary Board, the apex decision-making body and the Central Election Committee. Her career reflects sustained engagement with Democratic Institutions, Social Representations and Public Welfare.

Championing girls education during her Parliamentary tenure, she successfully spearheaded school improvement initiatives and facilitated the setup of toilet facilities in 95 Mahendragarh and 48 Rewari girls schools. She personally visited 1,158 of the 1,246 villages in her constituency and reported 100% utilisation of Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) funds. As per records, notably, she maintained an unblemished record in the Lok Sabha sessions, thereby achieving a remarkable 95% overall attendance.

Her developmental initiatives included-pursuing approval for an Employees State Insurance Hospital in Gurugram, working towards establishing a Provident Fund office, advocating improved railway facilities and pursuing an overbridge in Rewari. She also raised issues concerning farmers and servicemen and advocated quality education across schools, colleges and universities.

She has two children. Her daughter, Saumya Yadav, holds an MBA from Stanford University, U.S.A. and a B.Tech from IIT Delhi. Her son, Sidharth Yadav, holds an LL.B. and LL.M. from the University of Delhi, MSc. in Public Policy from University College London and a B.Com. (Honours) from Shri Ram College of Commerce, University of Delhi. Their educational achievements reflect the family’s emphasis on learning, perseverance and personal responsibility.

Dr. Sudha Yadav has been appointed as the 20^th Governor of Karnataka by the Hon’ble President of India on the 12^th of October 2026. She took oath as the Hon’ble Governor of Karnataka on 16^th October 2026.

Dr. Sudha Yadav firmly believes in the philosophy of “Kayakave Kailasa” -Work itself is Worship and that every duty should be performed through Nishkama Karma with selflessness and dedication.
