The unique contribution of Agronomy as a discipline of Agricultural Sciences is to provide the integration of Physical, Chemical and Biological knowledge into useful production systems by efficient utilization of both on-farm and off farm resources for sustainable agricultural production.
We build an excellent human resources to produce the highest possible quantity and quality of the desired Crop Product from each unit of land, water and light.
Every year each student undergoing Crop Production courses get an opportunity to empower themselves by earning an average net profit of INR 2000-3000 by producing “Certified seeds” of Paddy / Ragi. The students are also encouraged to develop entrepreneur skills by exposing them practically to commercial compost production, Vermicompost production and IFS enterprises.
Students of this college are excelling by securing ICAR Junior Research Fellowship for postgraduate and doctoral studies in the Agronomy discipline.
As the campus comes under Cauvery command area, the PG research focus is on the development of Climate Resilient Agriculture, Precision Water Management, Nutrient management, Nano technology in agriculture, biofortification, Integrated farming system, Organic farming, Weed Management Strategies, Yield maximization in field crops with special reference to Sugarcane, Rice, Maize, Millets, Pulses and Fodder crops, bio-energy management, farm mechanization and labour saving techniques, Soil health restoration and bridging yield gap to improve productivity.
