Genetics and Plant Breeding

The department is offering 5 courses for undergraduate degree and 8 courses for P.G. program with 2 seminars. Department is also offering course for Diploma in Agriculture. P.G. degree program in the department has started in the year 2013 and 40 students have completed M.Sc. (Agri.) in Genetics & Plant Breeding. Teachers are involved in National and International funded projects and development of hybrids, varieties in crops viz., Rice, Maize, Forage crops, Ragi.

Dept. Profile: Department of Crop Physiology is offering Courses for UG, PG and Diploma(Agri.) at College of Agriculture, V.C. Farm Mandya to educate students in order to gain the up to date knowledge in basic aspects of Plant Physiology like water relations in plants, Transpiration, Photosynthesis, Respiration, Growth and Development and Physiology of plant nutrition and stress physiology.

Mudigere for thirteen years and Associate Professor at College of Agriculture, Hassan
and presently working as Professor and Head, Department of Crop Physiology at
College of Agriculture, V.C. Farm, Mandya. Collaborated with Plant Breeder in
release of two Hill paddy varieties KHP-11 and KHP-12 during 2008-09. Worked on
1. Cardamom Drought Management aspects
2. Weed Biology of important weeds of plantation crops, 3. Coffee fruit ripening
aspects.
