Mandate:

v  To characterize the Agro-climatic condition

v  To establish crop-weather relationships

v  To evaluate the different techniques of modification of crop micro-climate for improving the resource use efficiency and productivity of the crops.

v  To study the influence of weather on the incidence and spread of crop pests and diseases. To provide weather based agro-advisories using medium range weather forecast and ICT

v  To provide the weather data to update in the Agromet data bank at ICAR- CRIDA

Research Programmes:

v  Agro- Climatic Characterization of Southern Karnataka

v  Crop-weather relationship in finger millet, pigeon pea, groundnut and mango

v  Pest-Crop-weather relationship pigeon pea, groundnut and mango

v  Establishment of the data bank for ready reference and to connect to Agromet data base network.

v  Development of simple crop weather models suitable for establishing relationship between Agro-meteorological data and crop performance.

v  Validation and development of simulation crop weather model to enhance the crop production under different Agro-climatic zones.
