The institution has established a mechanism to prevent ragging and to ensure a safe, secure, and student-friendly campus in strict compliance with the UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions.
- The college constitutes an Anti-Ragging Committee annualy in strict compliance with institutional policies as well as the guidelines prescribed by statutory and regulatory authorities. This mechanism is established with the explicit objective of enforcing a zero-tolerance towards ragging and ensuring a safe and secure campus environment.
- In addition, three Vigilance Committees are constituted for continuous monitoring across the campus premises. These committees include the Dean of Student Welfare (DSW), senior faculty members, Heads of all academic departments, Wardens of both UG and PG hostels, and senior Under Graduate students.
- To further strengthen surveillance, Anti-Ragging Squads are constituted to visit and monitor college and hostel premises during evening and late night hours. During weekdays, anti-ragging squad works for duration of 6 hours per day and during weekends, anti-ragging squad works for duration of 10 hours per day.
- Supplementing these arrangements, Physical Education teachers and the Hostel Management Committee (HMCs) memebers of postgraduate hostels function as a general monitoring group, actively overseeing and reporting any instances or indications of ragging across the campus.
Anti-ragging measures and preventive mechanisms
- Awareness and Sensitization Programs
Awareness meetings are conducted every year by the Anti-Ragging Committee both in the college and hostel premises, where students are educated regarding anti-ragging regulations, institutional policies, and the severe consequences of engaging in ragging activities. To reinforce awareness, anti-ragging week is organized during 12th to 18th of August every year, during which all the Under Graduate students are sensitized about the consequences of ragging by a police officer and display of anti-ragging posters, banners, at strategic locations.
- Formation of Anti-Ragging Committees and Vigilance Squads
Anti-Ragging Committees are constituted at the beginning of every academic year as per UGC guidelines. Each committee is headed by a senior professor as the Chairperson. In addition, Vigilance Squads are formed to conduct regular rounds during evening and night hours to monitor and prevent the incidents of ragging.
- Interaction with senior students
Regular meetings are conducted with senior students to sensitize them about anti-ragging norms and their role in fostering a safe and respectful campus environment. Students are informed about the legal and disciplinary consequences of ragging and are encouraged to act responsibly and support junior students.
